The white scene

this is a scene from a play
I wrote called
"Jimmy Jeans and the Jesus Box"
The whole Play takes place on the subway.
This is the White scene.
(Two men walk on the train. They are father and son.)

Pop: (as he enters) I’m just saying I would have paid for cab.

Son: Don’t worry about it. I like the train.

Pop: Who doesn’t, but it’s not the train that scares me, it’s the (whispers) people!

Jimmy Jeans : What’s wrong with the people?!
(Everyone on the train looks at him)

Pop: Nothing (quieter) sees what I mean that man smell of well… I don’t know?

Son: He didn’t smell that bad.

Pop: He did! I can still smell him. It like alcohol, urine, and well I don’t know. It all came at me at once so I got scared. Why didn’t we take a cab again?

Son: I wanted to show you a real New York.
The New York I know. (Bum moans)

Pop: O. K, O.K (long pause; pop looks around for a minute then looks at Son)
Hey this isn’t so bad.

Son: (sleepily) Yup. (He closes his eyes)

Pop: What are you doing?

Son: What?

Pop: You can’t sleep on the train! People will do god knows what to you?

Son: Dad I’ll be fine. There’s a lot people on this train nothing with happen.

Pop: Well that’s the girl on Dateline said then, bam! She’s dead. (Train stops) Is this are stop?

Pop: Well, (pause) What do I do?

Son: Read this. (Gives him a book)

Pop: Wow, New York shows. Hey let’s go see a show.

Son: Sure, which one?

Pop: Well, what about Rent what that about?

Son: Gays with aids in the 80’s.

Son: Theirs a few like that.

Pop: Oh, how about Angels in America?
